The ALL is a newly redesigned area on the third floor of Sherrod Library with flexible furniture that promotes collaborative work by allowing students to create their own study space.
Students can project their laptop screens onto the two large TV monitors in the Media:Scape lounge, thus enhancing participatory work.
Movable tables with detachable whiteboards, chairs, and screens also facilitate group work. Media:Scape will be demonstrated to President Noland, Bucky, and other guests on April 8, 2014 at 8:30 am during the ribbon cutting event.
Bagels will be provided!
This area was made possible the student library fee (along with our late night and weekend hours, and the yet-to-be-opened silent study area.
Further, ALL is the result of listening to what our students want and watching what they do. Our student advisory council recognized the need for more group collaboration space and was enthusiastic about using this area in that way; we have also observed that wherever we put large tables in the library, groups gather to work together. As some early users of the area said, this space is a “dream” for grad students, particularly the Media:Scape lounge and monitors.
